This is not a complaint but an observation. There appear to be armies of corporate entities who are holding the city of New York hostage. By way of a desire to generate income they have spent several decades (if not more than a century) turning neighborhoods and buildings into physical bank accounts dressed up as apartments. These buildings vary in the extent to which they deliver on their promise of luxury, with some only using the term while offering shoddy and hurried craftsmanship, while others actually bring forth physical spaces wherein one can walk in and think and feel, damn ––– this is how the other half lives.
