I felt cozy and relaxed over lunch at Westville, Dumbo. I dined in their covered patio, not quite indoors with the air conditioning, not quite outside with the heat beneath the sun.
I ordered the vegetable curry rice bowl and added salmon. The cauliflower and broccoli were crisp and fresh, the salmon and rice were filling.
I thought of Dumbo, how quiet and bright spaces like these are stitched and woven throughout the neighborhood, and what it feels like to sit down for a proper meal in the middle of the day ––– no hurrying or rushing around, the rice bowl will arrive when the rice bowl arrives.
