No. 29 - At home with Jodie Briggs.

Updated: Aug 25, 2019

August 23rd, 2019

Feeling gratitude for a few hours spent interviewing Jodie Briggs at her home in Boerum Hill earlier this evening. Briggs currently works with the Truth Initiative as a Senior Staff Writer, and has previously published work with Longreads, the Huffington Post, and JAMA.

We sat out on the balcony and caught the last few breaths of the summer heat, along with the six in the evening bells from St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, which stands a few blocks over from her place.

She writes about the sound of the church's bells, and how they remind her of her hometown of Denton, North Carolina in her reflection, "Sounds," on how echoes of Denton have woven themselves through her last fifteen years of living in New York.

The piece is forthcoming in Issue No. 7 - Autumn 2019, and will be accompanied by photography by Emily Fishman, along with the interview from today.

Rest well this weekend.

All of our best,
